Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)

Training is an essential part of achieving success as a club officer. In District 92, club officer training is provided by the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI); a dynamic, interactive, information-and-idea-filled event of training and networking. Whether you are a first-time officer or a veteran, TLI has something for you. Officer participation in TLI contributes towards Goal #9 of the Distinguished Club Program (DCP) helping the club achieve success and recognition.


TRAINING SCHEDULE

TLI sessions are scheduled at various locations throughout the District on a semi-annual basis. Summer TLI sessions will be held between July 10th and August 15th. Winter TLI sessions will be held between January 10th and February 15th. At least four club officers must attend both Summer TLI and Winter TLI training for the club to earn credit for DCP Goal #9.

FAQ

An agenda will available on-line before each of the TLI events. The TLI program is divided into three sessions:

  • General Session for all officers; includes topics and information applicable to all club officers.
  • Core Office-specific Sessions; for in-depth training on the standards for the office
  • Electives of interest to club officers in general – the same electives may not be offered at every TLI event. It is recommended that officers of a particular club split themselves up between the different electives.

Required Attendance & Elective Sessions

To receive full officer training credit, each officer must attend all three sessions: General session, Core Office-Specific session, & Electives.


Registration for Officers Holding more than one Position

Officers elected to multiple officer positions in one or more clubs should register as a "Dual" officer. Dual Officers should contact the TLI Registrar directly at the registration desk for more information and must attend the primary courses designated for the office.


Shared Officer Positions

Shared officer positions (i.e., two people sharing one officer position) are not supported by Toastmasters International or TLI for Distinguished Club Program Credit. Two attendees registered for the same club and club officer position will count as "one officer trained" toward the DCP Goal #9.


I have been an officer before. Do I still have to attend?

Yes. It is part of the standards of the office as defined by Toastmasters International.

You may also gain a fresh perspective for your role from a different trainer or the other attendees. And even if you've been to training before, your perspective may help out other attendees.
